E-resident

As an e-resident, in order to become a client of LHV you must:

Non-resident, citizen of a foreign country

When becoming a customer of LHV as a non/resident or a citizen of a foreign country it is very important that this non/resident or a citizen of a foreign country has connections to Estonia.

A private person has solid connections to Estonia when the person:
  • holds an employment contract
  • holds a lease contract
  • is engaged with business in Estonia

To verify the above, the respective contract (original copy) must be presented.

In the presence of solid connections to Estonia, to become a customer of LHV:

  • you must visit LHV’s office
  • take with a valid travel document (passport or ID card issued in an EU country)
  • take with an original copy of the document verifying the connection

Resident holding a residence permit (non-citizen)

A valid Estonian residence permit is a residence card or an ID card issued in Estonia. A temporary residence permit valid for 6 months is not a residence permit.

To become a client of LHV with a valid Estonian residence card or ID card, you must:

If you want to conclude a customer agreement in the internet bank, log in with mobile-ID or your ID card.

Account for a minor

An LHV current account for a minor can be opened by a parent with the right of representation. If you are a client of LHV, you can open an account for your child conveniently via the internet bank or mobile app. If you are not an LHV customer, you can start opening a child account from the homepage.

To open a current account at LHV for a minor:

  • fill in the open account form
  • visit the client office to identify yourself as a legal representative (parent) of the minor and your right of representation
  • from the age of 7 and above, the child’s identity document is required to open the account, please remember to bring it with you

A bankcard can be issued to the child from the age of 6. From the age of 7, rights for making transactions on the account can be given to the child upon the parent’s request.

Persons with restricted active legal capacity

Persons who, due to mental illness, mental disability or other mental disorder, are permanently unable to understand or direct their actions, have restricted active legal capacity. Restricted active legal capacity means that the person may only enter into transactions in limited volume and scope, and any contracts shall be signed on behalf of such individuals by the legal representative. The guardian of a person with restricted active legal capacity shall be appointed by the court.

A curator shall not be automatically considered a legal representative.

To open an account for persons with restricted active legal capacity you must come to LHV’s offices.

Documents required for registration of an adult with restricted active legal capacity as a customer are the following:

  • the identity document of the adult with restricted active legal capacity.
  • the identity document of the parent or guardian.
  • court judgement on the establishment of guardianship.

An account for a sole proprietor

Registering a sole proprietor (FIE) as a client is done the same way as registering a company. Start filling in the account opening form as the representative of a legal person.
